I challenged my scale to a game of Golf. I told it we would be a two-some in the game and help one another come out on top. I think there was a miscommunication. Either my scale misunderstood me and thought I meant I wanted to climb the numbers ladder or my scale had no idea that in golf the LOWEST score wins… because, at the end of this week’s game, we were up 0.6 lbs.
I woke up after a night of 4 drinks and dancing and felt dehydrated. I had been on-point with my water all week by drinking at least 54 oz each day. I also made sure I finished my 100 squats. I had lunch from home and prepared my dinners at home too. I was on a role. I made my plan and stuck with it, until Saturday. Saturday everything crashed. I went to a retirement dinner. I ate a few things, nothing over the top and I stuck to my portions, but I had two glasses of red wine. I knew as I was drinking them they were filled with sugar and I shouldn’t be doing this, that’s when I realized, the one thing I did do this week that was out of my norm was drinking more than one cup of coffee per day. I will get back to that issue in a few minutes. So, there I was at the retirement dinner, talking, laughing, listening to music and enjoying the night with my friends and wine. I could feel my mouth getting dry and I was craving water. I thought to myself, “wow! I didn’t’ realize two glasses of wine could make you so thirsty”, and then I remembered, it was a weekend. I dropped the boys off early for sports practice, came home. I started and completed laundry, ran back to the school to get the boys. Later, I took my youngest son to pick up his new glasses. We went for lunch and had a BIG, delicious Italian A&C sandwich from Paterson. I miss my hometown food establishments. I then went food shopping, came home, put away the food, and got ready for the retirement dinner. Do you know what I didn’t do Saturday? I DIDN’T DRINK ANY WATER!!! Now I want some and can’t seem to find it.
While I was at the dinner, friends of mine invited me to come out with them after to a place near us where a band was playing. My thought was great… I will go, drink water, and dance the badness out me! And, that’s what I semi-did. You see, I went to meet my friends and as I had planned, I danced, I drank 1/2 a bottle of water as I drove to the place and once, I got there… I thought about water, but somehow when I was ordering water the words that came out of my mouth sounded like “Moscow Mule” and that’s what the waitress brought me… TWICE!!!
This brings me back to the coffee. Coffee and sugar. Moscow Mules are good and they are sweet! And, I mentioned a few minutes ago, I drank more coffee than I normally do this week. Not such a big deal for some, but if you are like me, it is a big deal all due to sugar. You see, in a Medium Dunkin Donuts coffee, I take (brace yourselves here) 7 creams (sugar) and 6 sugars! OMG, I know right?!?!?!? CRAZY. But, that’s the truth. I have coffee with my sugar. And, sugar = fat.
So, is it my scales fault for being a bad golf player? No. I don’t think it is. However, I do blame the scale for always holding me accountable and yet, never offering any help. After all, I paid extra money for a smart scale, and you would think if it were smart it would know how to reach out to a friend in need with some water occasionally or knock that sugar spoon out of the person’s hand making my coffee.
Once again, I learn how important water is, and realize sugar is not my friend.
Another week — Another lesson. Let’s see what 2/10 brings (or hopefully loses along the way)… until then . . .
Keep Sparkling ~
